Problemas de categorización ontológica de las concepciones de diferencia de potencial y fem en alumnos universitarios

Abstract

This article presents a study on the conceptions of a group of university students about the concepts of potential difference and electromotive force (emf). The study is carried out through the use of the Case Study methodology and the data analysis was carried out through the Coding and Content Analysis method. The survey was designed to reveal the ontological characteristics of their conceptions. The participants in this research are all the students who were taking a basic electromagnetism course at the university level. Students' explanations reveal incorrect ontological categorizations of these concepts or the assignment of false ontological attributes. This analysis sheds some light on possible teaching strategies that could be designed to achieve conceptual change, taking into account the difficulties associated with incorrect ontological categorization of concepts
